FORMULA ONE: DB Schenker with the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team at the Austrian Grand Prix
From June 19–21, 2015, the premier class of motor sports will gather in Spielberg for the Austrian Grand Prix, and DB Schenker’s team of experts will be among them. The integrated logistics services provider will support the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team with its expertise and logistics know-how at all races in Europe.
Five DB Schenker semi-trailers will transport the “Silver Arrows” race cars driven by Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg to the largest racing circuits in Europe. The cooperation between DB Schenker and MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS will continue until the end of 2018. The partnership covers all logistics services for the Formula One team at all European races, tests and promotional events. This includes the transport and construction of the motorhome, the transport of racing vehicles and spare parts, and the construction of mechanics’ workshops and engineering offices. Five silver Mercedes Benz Actros semi-trailers and a fleet of further white trucks bearing the DB Schenker logo with matching trailers will be employed for the racing team’s general transport logistics.
Toto Wolff, Executive Director of Mercedes-Benz Motorsport, is pleased about the partnership with DB Schenker: “The highest degree of professionalism and precision is indispensable in the Formula One series. This also applies for our logistics services. We are very pleased to have DB Schenker on board and we have no doubt that the company will provide excellent service and be able to respond to changing circumstances with the necessary flexibility and speed required in Formula One racing.”
More than 30 DB Schenker employees are lending their support to MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS and are always ready for action. This is not always easy because the race dates often fall so close to one another that there is only a week in between two races — that means only a week for deconstruction, transport and construction. “We are very proud to be able to support the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team in the coming years with our expertise and know-how,” says Kurt Leidinger, CEO of DB Schenker in Austria and South East Europe.
DB Schenker has already successfully completed its “qualifying sessions”: The transport of the racing cars and equipment to the races in Barcelona and Monaco ran smoothly. Additional race locations are as follows: Silverstone (UK), the Hungaroring (Hungary), Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) and Monza (Italy).
